Biographical Summary
In an industry–and a company–where a 30-year tenure is common, AT&T's recruiting of an "outsider" as its technology chief came as a surprise. Donovan initially said his goals at AT&T can be summed up in five simple words: "More bandwidth in more places. You also have to be good at getting (consumers) on and off the network." Today he is responsible for AT&T organizations managing network architecture, planning and engineering, security, intellectual property and AT&T Labs.
