Biographical Summary

A Fulbright and O'Reilly Scholar, Anita Sands began her banking career in 2004, handling derivatives analysis at Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, Canada's fifth largest general bank. She then joined the even larger Royal Bank of Canada, and was promoted to senior vice president in late 2007, the youngest-ever SVP at RBC. She joined UBS in 2009, and was named by Registered Rep magazine as one of 2012's "The TEN to Watch" for "orchestrating the massive undertaking of transforming, upgrading and generally reshaping the technology platform at UBS Wealth Management Americas (WMA)." As the Head of WMA Change Leadership and a Group Managing Director at UBS WMA, she oversees a team of 2,000 technology and operations staff. She is currently a member of the WMA Operating Committee, which is responsible for increasing efficiencies to lead the firm to consistent profitability. She manages WMA's operational and project management office, focusing on strategic change programs. Believing that 'innovation is a mindset, not a department,' Sands continues to use her background in molecular physics and public policy to take advantage of every opportunity to mix strategy and execution in technology, business and education.
