Biographical Summary
A scholar who ranked first in his class at the University of Connecticut when he received his MBA, Diamond began his career as a lecturer at the same university's School of Business. A native of Concord, Massachusetts, Diamond got his start in banking and finance in 1979 when he joined Morgan Stanley, and he has been in the industry ever since. However, in July 2012 he resigned from his position as CEO of Barclays amid fallout from a Libor rate-fixing scandal. Prior to Barclays, Diamond was the Vice Chairman and Head of Global Fixed Income and Foreign Exchange at CS First Boston, where he was also a member of the Executive Board and Operating Committee. He joined Barclays in 1996, and has been a member of the Barclays Group Executive Committee since 1997. In 2010 he was named the Company's Chief Executive Officer.
