Eric T. Steigerwalt
EVP and Head of U.S. Retail Business, MetLife Inc.
As part of a major corporate restructuring, in late 2011 Eric Steigerwalt was appointed Interim Chief Financial Officer of MetLife Inc., one of the largest global providers of insurance, annuities, and employee benefit programs, with 90 million customers in more than 60 countries. The appointment gave him oversight of all financial matters for MetLife, including financial reporting, treasury, corporate actuarial, risk management, tax, investor relations as well as mergers and acquisitions. In 2012, the Company named a permanent CFO and Steigerwalt was named the head of MetLife's U.S. retail business, overseeing the Company's annuity and individual life insurance businesses as well as retail distribution for auto and homeowners insurance. Steigerwalt previously held various other top financial positions with MetLife, including CFO of its U.S. Business organization and Treasurer. He was Vice President of Investor Relations during MetLife’s initial public offering in 2000 and before that managed many of the operational aspects of MetLife's demutualization and coordinated financial management initiatives in preparation for public company financial reporting. Prior to joining MetLife, Steigerwalt was VP of Investor Relations at the Equitable Companies. He began his career with the Fossett Corporation in 1986.
