Biographical Summary
Exum, the sixth CEO of the Krystal Company, literally came home to Krystal. Growing up in Chattanooga, he remembers a Krystal burger as his first restaurant meal. He started his career with Wendy's as a management trainee and worked for several large franchise companies before founding his own franchise network, Pennant Foods. Pennant grew to 75 Wendy's restaurants before he sold the company and moved back to Chattanooga to work at Krystal. Exum's 30 years of experience in the quick service restaurant industry has earned him a "track record for operational excellence." Exum was instrumental in bringing Krystal out of bankruptcy and has reinvigorated the chain by introducing new restaurant designs and expanding Krystal's menu offerings.
