Biographical Summary
A graduate of the U.S. Military Academy and a Harvard MBA, Hicks is a seasoned retail executive who has spent much of his career focusing on footwear. Today he is steering Foot Locker Inc. through a major reorg and is diversifying the chain's business across more product categories, apparel and a wider variety of sports. Hicks assumed the top spot at the athletic shoe and apparel chain in August 2009, replacing Matthew D. Serra. He also was elected a member of Foot Locker's Board of Directors. Hicks came to Foot Locker after a seven-year stint with J.C. Penney Company Inc., the last four as President and Chief Merchandising Officer. Prior to joining Penney, Hicks was President of Payless ShoeSource Inc. He is a graduate of the United States Military Academy and holds an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School. He serves on the boards of Avery Dennison Corporation and Southern Methodist University's Cox School of Business.
