Biographical Summary
McKines is Vice President of Global Marketing Services for Merck & Co. Inc., the world's largest pharmaceutical firm. She oversees all advertising; media planning and buying; production and operations; and e-related initiatives for both the US Human Health and Vaccines Division. She also is the catalyst behind Merck's commitment to HealthCare Disparities. McKines has been with Merck since 1996, and takes pride in the fact that she's attained such a high-ranking position. "At Merck, I share my experiences with people who may just be coming into the organization," she said. "I am a senior level African American, and I really do feel a need to mentor other African Americans, particularly females, as they enter into a corporate environment." McKines has held a series of positions of steadily increasing authority at Merck, including Executive Director of the Arthritis & Analgesia Therapeutic Business Group. She began her career as a Sales Representative at Ciba-Geigy Corporation in 1982 and has also held marketing posts at Smith Kline Beecham and Johnson & Johnson. McKines is a graduate of Kent State and holds an MBA in Health Management from Boston University.
