Biographical Summary
Once the head of Microsoft's Windows business, Veghte led the development of Windows '98 and was deemed to be key to the future of the company. However, after Windows 7 was launched in October 2009, Microsoft said that Veghte would take on an unspecified role within the company–but three months later, he announced that his last day with the company would be January 31, 2010. Later in 2010 he resurfaced at HP, where it was announced he would be running the company's software and services business. In 2012 it was announced that he would also take on the role of Chief Strategy Officer, making him responsible for shaping Hewlett-Packard's technology strategy and managing cloud computing efforts. Just a fre short months later he was given even more responsibility, this time as the company's Chief Operating Officer.
