Biographical Summary
Dunn started his career at Best Buy in 1985 as a sales associate when the retail giant was still a 12-store chain in Minneapolis. Dunn worked his way through the ranks methodically, graduating from store manager to district manager to president of U.S. stores in 2002. Dunn was named president and COO of Best Buy and 2006 and has spearheaded several initiatives since then, including the chain's "customer-centric" strategy that customizes each store's mechandise mix to local tastes. . After becoming CEO in 2009, Dunn has been aggressive about making sure his firm has the leading retail technology available to consumers, and has no problem picking winners among various formats. He's also been an advocate for making his big box stores less reliant on sales of product and more focused on offering ongoing services to consumers who see Best Buy products as necessities .
