Ronald (Ron) Marshall
Owner, Wildridge Capital Management LLC
A retail veteran with a reputation for turning companies around, Marshall was appointed CEO of Borders Group in 2009. He began his retail career with Barnes & Noble before moving to Pathmark Stores in 1994, where he helped rein in expenses and revive the supermarket chain as CFO. He joined troubled food distributor and retailer Nash Finch in 1998 and returned the company to profitability in his eight years at the helm. Borders is hoping Marshall can help it emerge from a prolonged slump as its new CEO. Marshall joined the company at the behest of Pershing Square Capital Management LP, the retailer's largest shareholder. The company has subsequently remade its board, and Marshall has overseen three rounds of layoffs while reducing debt and cutting expenses. In January 2010, Marshall resigned from Borders (effective immediately but he will "assist in the transition") to become CEO of the Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Company, which lasted only through the year. Currently he is the CEO and Founder of Wildridge Capital Management LLC.
