Biographical Summary
A retail veteran who began his career with supermarket chain Supervalu, DeMatteo has been in the video game industry for
more than a dozen years. He was president of regional chain Babbages Etc. when it merged with FuncoLand in 2000 to create
the company that would become GameStop. DeMatteo served as president and COO for eight years and became CEO in
September 2008 when Richard Fontaine stepped down. In 2010 he stepped down from the CEO role but remains Executive
Chairman.
