Mark Vincent Hurd
President,
Oracle Corporation
Last Updated: 11/21/2011

Biographical Summary

Hewlett Packard raised eyebrows in 2005, when it chose Hurd–a 25-year veteran of NCR Corp–to replace the company's former high-profile boss Carly Fiorina. But he delivered, boosting the company's earnings and revenues by double-digits, helping HP unseat Dell as the world's #1 computer supplier. As one analyst put it, Hurd "hit the ground running and never looked back." He earned rave reviews for turning around the company's fortunes only to be ousted in 2010 for fudging his expense reports--ironic given his reputation as a fiscal disciplinarian. Hurd resurfaced only a month later at Oracle, snapped up by longtime friend and supporter Larry Ellison, who publicly crticized HP's board for firing Hurd.
