Biographical Summary
A native of Spain and veteran of the auto industry (including stints at Ford, Valeo, Delphi and IVECO), Alapont joined Federal-Mogul in 2005 - four years after the company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. He deftly led the company through this difficult period, from which it finally emerged in December 2007. Alapont stepped down as CEO and President on March 31, 2012 but will remain on the company's Board of Directors through the 2013 annual meeting of shareholders. Rainer Jueckstock, Senior Vice President of the company's Powertrain Energy business unit, was elected Chief Executive Officer effective April 1, 2012.
