Olza M. (Tony) Nicely
Chairman and CEO, GEICO
Nicely began his career at GEICO at age 18 in 1961 as a clerk and he has been with the company ever since. After working his way through college in nearly every department of the company, he became the youngest elected officer in 1972, when he was put in charge of underwriting sales and service. He held numerous other executive positions before being named chairman, president and CEO of insurance operations in 1993. GEICO (Government Employees Insurance Company) is a member of the Berkshire Hathaway family of companies and is the third-largest private passenger auto insurer in the United States, providing coverage for 9 million policyholders and more than 16 million vehicles. It has been widely speculated that Nicely is among the top candidates being considered to succeed the famed Warren Buffett as CEO of Geico parent company Berkshire Hathaway.
